I understand Clegg and Cameron are proposing to raise the state retirement age to 66.
I took early retirement to care for a family member with Asperger Syndrome and thankfully have a small private pension. This is not adequate to cover all my day to day expenses. I also paid at the states request a years stamps to cover a shortfall on my years when I retired early in 2002. Labour changed the regulations to only needing 30 years of paid up years. I am now 4 years overpaid, five with the voluntary payment I made. You never refund overpayments – this is very unfair!
Please bear in mind that carers do a valuable job unpaid, and you could at least allow them to retire at 65. You have propose to stop me getting a Freedom Card at 60 and I have to wait until 62!
In conclusion it is discriminatory not to raise female pensions to 66 at the same time. Men normally die first and women live longer. Fairs Fair!!!!
