Top marks to my cable company for sending me a new smart card for viewing. Apparently it has been necessary due to fraud making the other card (the one on the left in a dark colour) easy to copy.
I followed the instructions on the letter and it put a slug up on the screen telling me to wait whilst it updated. It would take 20 minutes. I did it before going out in the morning and got back at lunch time and is was jammed. I rang the helpline, stood around like a Charlie switching the television box on and off, and still not joy. The chap said “we are having a lot of trouble with these cards, I will book you a call out from an engineer, because I am sending it signals this end and it does not work. Also I was warned if I did not keep this appointment, I would be charged £10 – a sauce considering they want everyone with a cable box to update or eventually lost their Television Service!
Never mind the British are used to big companies taking us for a ride!
